I was born in Canada but lived in Holland and South Africa until my family moved back to Canada when I was 18. Drawing, colouring and art were a huge part of my life from a young age, thanks to my grandmothers constant supply of coloured pencils and markers. In Toronto I went to the Ontario College of Art where I specialized in Communication Arts and decided to become an illustrator and I have had a long career working in editorial. Having always painted for pleasure I decided a few years ago to make it more of a focus and birds became my theme of choice. Colour has always been a focal point in my work and I also love decorative work (as well as fun kitsch) so birds are a great fit. I kind of see the paintings as POP art. As a city person I appreciate birds immensely and I hope to draw more attention to their value and beauty. They have much to teach us and I am enjoying learning more about them all the time.
